My husband and I visited Alfriston Clergy house on Sunday 1st May. You could really feel the 'history' of this place, especially upstairs in the little bedroom. I took some photos of the interior. One photo came out, out of focus and I could see an unidentifiable object on the bed and at the foot of the bed. When I zoomed in it looked like something from outer space, I can't describe it. I did feel very cold in that particular room. Beautiful gardens too. Alfriston village was not built with 21 Century traffic in mind. We had a lovely cream tea at The Singing Kettle in the village. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Attractive Wealden house with quaint English garden. Not very big so unlikely to need more than 1.5 hours. At £12 per adult non-NT members its pricey and not really good value. Theres a small gift shop and cafe too. NT volunteers are pleasant and informative too!
Fascinating historical monument set in a beautiful little village. Access was quite hard with a pushchair but we managed it! No facilities onsite. Lot's of local pubs for loos/food etc.
Surprisingly hard to find if you approach from the North but we'll worth it. This is the first property acquired by The National Trust and one of the more modest but full of interest and beauty none the less The South car park is the best. But from the North walk down the high street and follow a small brown sign pointing down an allley on the left just after a pub. Cross the green and it is hidden to the right of the church
First house to be saved by National Trust. Tiny Wealden hall set in lovely cottage garden on banks of river
